The sculptures, texts and constructions on this website are the result of an on-going investigation into metaphysics and perspective in the paintings of Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978).
The investigation began with a study of the Italian artist's 1917 version of Il Grande Metafisico, which resulted in 3 constructed versions of the painting's central assemblage and a theoretical understanding of the link between metaphysics and perspective. Further research on this theme contributed to a series of sculptures and drawings collectively referred to as Stele and Wardrobes. They are documented in the ARTRESEARCH section of this site.
A related research project concerning the origins of metaphysical perspective, as exemplified by ancient Romano-Campanian wall-paintings discovered at Rome, Pompeii and Herculaneum, resulted in the e-monograph:
The False-Door: dissolution and becoming in Roman wall-painting
