After a lengthy study of Picasso's
Une Anatomie drawings that included 3-dimensional transcriptions, I concluded that they were intended to have an
ex-voto healing function relating to his then mistress Marie Thérèse-Walter. At the time the drawings were produced she was seriously ill and her normally athletic body had become "skeletal" due to her illness. For more on this see :
