stele
Stele: (1985-1990) is a visual essay made up of 100 bronze sculptures that individually and collectively engage in a discourse on the relationship between metaphysics and perspective.

The discourse moves between the paintings of Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978) and ancient Roman wall-paintings from Rome, Pompeii and Herculaneum, dating from approximately 80BC to 79AD.

The Spirits Released touches on many of the themes associated with metaphysics and perspective in connection with both De Chirco's ouevre and that of the ancient Italo-Roman artists working in the Magna-Graecia region of Italy, between 80 BC and 100 AD.
